The GabrielGallery was created by Mr. A.C. (Cliff) Butcher and is housed above the Mitre 10 store in Sheridan Street. Mr. Butcher has had a lifelong interest in the history of Gundagai and has been an avid collector of items of interest to Gundagai. While renovating premises bought for a business, he found 450 negatives on glass plates together with Dr. Gabriel’s library, medical instruments and personal possessions. In 1956 he used some of them in his book, Gundagai-Its History Verse and Song. Subsequently he donated the negatives to the National Library and they printed a book called the Gundagai Album, which featured photos of life in Gundagai around the turn of the  20th century.

In the gallery, you can see  reproductions of these negatives, plus many other items of historical interest. Well worth a visit.
