Walking Tracks

Wiradjuri Walking Track – Wagga Wagga
Follows a perimeter route of about 30km with 11 established access points and can be subdivided into numerous shorter subsections. The walk meanders past the CBD, along the Murrumbidgee River, through the Botanic Gardens, Lake Albert and offers the best views of the city.

The Nilla Yannagalang Billana Track – Willandra National Park
Introduces visitors to a range of natural environments in this semi-arid part of NSW.

Bundidgerry Walking Track - Narrandera
The Bundidgerry Walking Track follows a scenic route around Lake Talbot and the majestic Murrumbidgee River. Maps of the track are available from the Narrandera VIC.

The Yerong Nature Trail - The Rock
An excellent walk to observe changes in the vegetation communities as the vegetation is open woodland and changes with altitude and clearing history. The views from the top of the rock are spectacular and on clear days during winter the snow-capped peaks to the east and south can be seen.

Scenic Hill – Griffith
The Hill is a nature area and plant regeneration is being encouraged. Located along the rim of the hill are a number of lookouts each offering a different view of Griffith and the surrounding farmland. As well as the lookouts a number of marked walking trails criss cross the Hill with most being easy to moderate.

Lake Woorabinda – Hillston
The walking track winds its way around the edge of this man-made lake, which is a haven for birdlife including pelicans and black swans. The Lake is situated beside the Lachlan River, with the track directing walkers on a scenic route between two bodies of water.

The Ned Kelly Raid Trail of 1879 - Jerilderie                                                                                      Walk in the steps and visit the sites of the Ned Kelly Gang’s raid on Jerilderie. The tour begins at the Ned Kelly Post Office in Powell Street. Guide brochures are available at the Visitor Information Centre.  With 16 sites you can walk in the footsteps of one of Australia’s legends as you discover what the Kelly Gang did when they spent three days in Jerilderie in February 1879. The story will unfold as you read the descriptive information boards at all sites. Sites include The Post and Telegraph Office, Police Horse Stables, Travelers Rest Hotel, site of bank robbed by the Kelly Gang 1879 and much more.

Hay River Walk
The Hay River Walk is a 3.5km walk along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Observe some of the historic sites of Hay from its time as a major river port and see first hand the nautral vegitationand native wildlife that exist in this picturesque environment. Bush Tucker Trail - Jerilderie                                                                                        This self guided tour along the banks of the Billabong can take you half an hour or half a day at your own pace.  Starting at the Giant Windmill adjacent to Lake Jerilderie the pathway takes you along the bush Tucker Trail, through native planted areas where you can encounter the large number of birds including rosella and parrots. Take a seat at various spots and "smell the gum trees".
