The Riverina region is located in southern New South Wales and encompasses the middle and lower reaches of the Murrumbidgee River Valley. The region’s fertile farmland has attracted migrants from many nations, creating a surprising and eclectic mix of cuisines and cultures.
Today, the Riverina is the biggest producer of wine in New South Wales. Wine Cellar doors are located right throughout the region including in Gundagai, Wagga Wagga Shire, Leeton, Griffith and Hay. Griffith alone boasts over ten wineries open to the public for cellar door tastings and sales. A large proportion of its vineyards planted to premium grape varieties. Main varieties include Semillion, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Traminer.
The Riverina offers a unique mix of cultures from all around the world and is renowned for its quality restaurants and European style cafes all serving divine gourmet cuisine complimented by our local fine wines. Griffith and Leeton are especially well known for their cosmopolitan feel. You’ll taste the best Italian food outside of Italy!
The Riverina provides great accommodation, winery and farm tours along with numerous other attractions.
